Neurocardiogenic syncope is believed to result from an inappropriate autonomic response in which the sudden development of hypotension and bradycardia determines a critical reduction of cerebral perfusion and then fainting. 

Moreover, the appropriate delivery of controlled orthostatic stress allows detailed observations on the physiologic events taking place during a neurocardiogenic event.
